Armature design and process
These are armatures that I have designed and iterated for my stop motion puppet named Mary, which will be in my own stop motion project titled “Splinters” - a short film about the eeriness and stillness felt when going back to your childhood home.
I 3D modeled most parts of the armature in Fusion 360, using a drill press to make holes for smaller pieces to attach. I also combined wire armature techniques within the libs to be able to get specific movement needed for the sop motion. For example, I will be animating the arms wiggle, which can be done easily with wire.
Mary Puppet
Interior armature covered in super soft foam and foam bandage. Hair made out of felt. Head sculpted out of sculpy with moveable eyes. Hands made out of plastilina.
